Micah tends to keep his distance from people emotionally. He doesn't want (or need, he would say) the difficulties and struggles that come with being close to people. He can be cruel, can be cunning, can be any number of things that all together garner him the label of "asshole".
He wasn't always this way, but living how he has, for as long as he has, has left a sour taste in his mouth when it comes to people. In spite of his misgivings with people, he's a phenomenal surgeon and does his job with immense pride.
