Vance is a straightforward and genuine creature. Though seemingly quite stoic and distant, his monotonous and overall serious impression does nothing to show the deeply caring and quite gullible, lonely person he really is. Plagued by an inability to fully express himself without feeling deeply out of place, Vance is regularly misunderstood and does not have the social skillset to correct it.
Over time he has learned how to interact with others on a basic social level, but is still awkward and unsure when it comes to friendships, let alone romantic relationships. He cares very much about those close to him, coworkers or otherwise, and tries his best to be approachable. This isn't immediately apparent to others, but the longer his underlings work with him, the more obvious it becomes.
